Fue Declarado el 22 de agosto como Día de la República Dominicana en Washington
SANTO DOMINGO,RD.
Fue proclamado el 22 de agosto, como Día de la República Dominicana en Washington, en reconocimiento a los aportes de los criollos en diversas aéreas en ese estado, durante un acto celebrado en la sede de la Embajada de la República Dominicana en los Estados Unidos de América.
El embajador dominicano en ese país, Embajador José Tomás Pérez recibió, de manos de Eduardo Perdomo, de la Oficina Ejecutiva de la Alcaldía de Washington, en nombre de la alcaldesa Muriel Bowser, la Proclama, hace referencia a la importancia de la República Dominicana en la región.
Asimismo se destaca el papel que representa el béisbol entre las relaciones de nuestro país y Estados Unidos, y la gran contribución que realizan los dominicanos en los Estados Unidos tanto en las áreas de los servicios públicos como en los negocios, educación, salud, arte y la innovación, entre otras.
Como parte de los trabajos de la Embajada Dominicana en EE.UU. con los temas de Diplomacia Urbana y Parlamentaria, se han realizado actividades para fortalecer las relaciones entre la Alcaldía de Washington, D.C., y otras ubicadas en Estados Unidos, como las de Maryland y Virginia, con el objetivo de propiciar el hermanamiento de ciudades entre EE.UU. y la República Dominicana, generando espacios de cooperación y colaboración técnica a nivel de gobiernos locales y alianzas público-privadas.
Las Alcaldías del Distrito Nacional (ADN) y la de Santo Domingo Este (SDE), participaron con la Alcaldía de DC en una agenda técnica en ocho (8) instituciones del Distrito de Columbia, y para la República Dominicana recibió el reconocimiento como país de honor en el Evento Taste of the World Festival, en el cual participaron otros países como la India, México, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, y Brasil, Etiopía, Jamaica.
Estas delegaciones representaron parte de las Alcaldías del Gran Santo Domingo y reconocieron algunos de los emprendedores de Maryland, Washington, DC y New Jersey que participaron en el Evento, por sus trayectorias e impacto positivo en la comunidad dominicana en el exterior.
