GONZALO CASTILLO RESPONDE A BOB MENENDEZ: “ EN REPÚBLICA DOMINICANA SE HARÁ LO QUE EL PUEBLO DIGA”

El ministro de Obras Públicas, Gonzalo Castillo, a raíz de las declaraciones del senador estadounidense Bob Menéndez, manifestó que la República Dominicana es independiente y que se hará lo que el pueblo quiera y lo que le convenga al país, sin la injerencia de un agente interno o externo.
Al ser preguntado por periodistas su opinión sobre la solicitud del congresista al secretario de Estado, Mike Pompeo, de intervenir para evitar una modificación de la Constitución para una posible reelección del presidente Danilo Medina, Castillo manifestó que “lo que tiene que pasar, pasará en su debido momento. Somos un país republicano, independiente y haremos lo que el pueblo quiera, lo que convenga a la nación sin injerencia de ningún agente interno o externo que no obedezcan necesariamente a los mejores intereses del país”.
El también miembro del Comité Central del partido de gobierno agregó que “este es un mundo globalizado y democrático donde cada quien puede decir lo que entienda que debe decir. Pero nosotros como dominicanos haremos lo que este en el mejor interés de la nación, eso es lo único que nos mueve a participar en la política y a participar en la administración del Estado, los mejores intereses de nuestra nación”.
El senador estadounidense, Bob Menéndez le redactó una carta al secretario de Estado, Mike Pompeo para expresarle su preocupación acerca de la reforma constitucional que favorecería la relección de Danilo Medina.
“Le pido que utilice todas las herramientas diplomáticas a su disposición para subrayar la importancia de la gobernabilidad democrática en la República Dominicana”, dice la carta.
