CORONEL FARD HACE SERIA DENUNCIA, QUEDA SIN FUNCIONES Y BAJO INVESTIGACIÓN

Fue dejado sin funciones, desarmado y permanece bajo investigación el coronel piloto Santiago Almonte Batista, quien denunció que el taller aeronáutico de la Fuerza Aérea Dominicana es utilizado como depósito para el tráfico de drogas.
Almonte Batista ha sido interrogado al menos dos veces: en la Procuraduría General de la República y luego en la Fuerza Aérea Dominicana, en presencia de familiares, sin embargo el caso ha sido manejado con cierto hermetismo por el órgano persecutor del crimen.
Una fuente ligada a la investigación explicó que aunque el militar no está preso, le han quitado todas las funciones que tenía en la institución y hasta su arma de reglamento.
La investigación del caso está a cargo de una comisión interinstitucional que integran la Procuraduría General de la República, la Dirección Nacional de Control de Drogas y el Ministerio de Defensa.
Tras validar el proceso, las tres instituciones emitirán un informe sobre la denuncia hecha por el oficial Almonte Batista, a quien le quitaron hasta el carnet.
En tanto que la Fuerza Aérea Dominicana está a la espera de los resultados de la investigación de la denuncia del coronel piloto, quien al quedar sin funciones podría ser suspendido mediante decreto del Poder Ejecutivo, por su condición de oficial.
El Ministerio Público interrogó por varias horas al oficial Almonte Batista, quien hizo la denuncia en una graduación de la Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) y posteriormente se dirigió a la emisora Z101, donde pidió hablar con la magistrada Yeni Berenice Reynoso. De donde salió hacia la Procuraduría con un miembro del Ministerio Público.
El oficial llegó a la emisora vestido de civil, entregando su arma al propietario de la emisora, Bienvenido Rodríguez, quien lo llevó a su oficina, en la que permaneció por espacio de ocho horas, hasta que llegó un miembro del Ministerio Público y pidió al empresario que lo acompañara al despacho de la directora de Persecución del Ministerio Público, procuradora adjunta Reynoso.
Declaración
“Yo quiero que me desmientan, porque lo que se quiere decir es que yo no estoy en capacidad mental y, precisamente estoy aquí para reportarlo personalmente, porque esa es una situación que se viene dando en la Fuerza Aérea de la República Dominicana y yo responsablemente estoy llamando al presidente constitucional de la República, Luis Abinader Corona, para que tome cartas en el asunto”, manifestó el oficial en un acto en la UASD.
El militar añadió: “Yo tengo mi reporte para que no quieran descalificarme.
Yo estoy defendiendo a la República Dominicana. He arriesgado mi vida en favor de la Patria”.
La Fuerza Aérea de República Dominicana informó la creación de una comisión interinstitucional para investigar las acusaciones del coronel Almonte Batista.
La investigación tendrá como objetivo evaluar la veracidad de la denuncia que hace el oficial superior, profundizarla y de manera oportuna emitir un informe por la vía correspondiente al Ministerio de Defensa, se indicó.
El coronel:
El coronel Santiago Almonte Batista es piloto aviador con 33 años en la FARD, entidad que lo describe como un “oficial aviador que se ha desempeñado de manera satisfactoria” dentro de la institución. Ha tenido varios cargos directivos durante su carrera militar, como el de director ejecutivo de la Comisión Permanente para la Reforma y Modernización de las Fuerzas Armadas, en 2013, de acuerdo a archivos.
